UPSF Contract Ratificiation Vote Held In Portland, OR August 16th And 17th; Contract Ratified Sucessfully- (8/18/08)

UPS Freight employees in Portland successfully ratified their contract in two days of voting.

Portland, OR UPS Freight Contract Ratification Vote Scheduled For August 16th and 17th- (7/26/08)

Local 81 Secretary-Treasurer Tom Strickland reports that UPSF contract ratification voting has been scheduled for Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17 at Joe Edgar Hall in the Teamster Complex off of 162nd Ave in Portland.  

UPS Freight Workers in Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada and Virginia Sign Cards to Become Teamsters- (7/10/08)

An overwhelming majority of about 100 workers at UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) terminals in Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada and Virginia have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers who have signed cards to nearly 11,200 since January 16, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced.

The workers will be joining Local 371 in Rock Island, Illinois; Local 270 in New Orleans which covers the Baton Rouge terminal; Local 533 in Reno, Nevada and; Local 22 in Collinsville, Virginia, which covers the Danville terminal.

Kansas City Workers at UPS Freight Reject Fraud Union in Overwhelming Vote- (7/3/08)

For the third time, workers at UPS Freight in Kansas City overwhelmingly handed a fly-by-night organization claiming to be a labor union its walking papers in a vote yesterday.  Workers voted 157-58 against the Association of Parcel Workers of America, which according to recent filings with the Labor Department, is now insolvent.

Teamsters Now Represent More Than 11,000 UPS Freight Workers- (5/23/08)

In four months, more than 11,000 UPS Freight drivers and dockworkers in 40 states have signed cards to become Teamsters, the largest organizing victory in the freight industry in 25 years. More than 9,900 of these workers have already ratified a new contract which improves wages, benefits and working conditions. The Teamsters won card-check agreement from UPS in December 2007, and began collecting cards from UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) workers on January 16, 2008.

UPS Freight Workers in California, Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia Sign Cards to Become Teamsters- (5/29/08)

An overwhelming majority of about 70 workers at UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) terminals in California, Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers who have signed cards to nearly 11,100 since January 16, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced. The workers will be joining Local 171 in Salem, Virginia, which includes the terminals in Lynchburg and Roanoke; Local 381 in Santa Maria, California, which includes the Oceano terminal; Local 523 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and; Local 577 in Lubbock, Texas.

UPS Freight Workers in Idaho, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio and Oklahoma Sign Cards to Become Teamsters- (4/30/08)

An overwhelming majority of more than 150 workers at UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) terminals in Idaho, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio and Oklahoma have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers who have signed cards to 10,700 since January 16, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced. The workers will be joining Local 483 in Boise, Idaho; Local 50 based in Belleville, Illinois which covers the Mt. Vernon terminal; Local 61 in Asheville, North Carolina which covers the Hickory terminal; Local 957 in Dayton, Ohio, and; Local 886 in Oklahoma City.

UPS Freight Workers in Oregon Sign Cards to Become Teamsters- (4/25/08)

An overwhelming majority of about 150 workers at UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) terminals in Oregon have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers who have signed cards to 10,550 since January 16, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced.

The workers will be joining Local 81 in Portland which covers terminals in Portland and South Portland; Local 962 in Central Point which covers the terminal in Medford,  Local 206 in Portland which covers the terminal in Eugene; and Local 670 in Salem, which covers the terminal in Hermiston.

UPS Freight Workers Vote Overwhelmingly to Ratify Contract- (April 7, 2008)

The Teamsters added more than 9,900 new members with workers at UPS Freight, overwhelmingly ratifying a contract by more than 89 percent. The agreement will improve wages, benefits and working conditions, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced today.

Tentative UPS Freight Agreement Unanimously Endorsed at National Two-Person Meeting- (March 25, 2008)

The tentative UPS Freight Agreement was unanimously recommended at the national two-person meeting today by representatives from locals that have submitted cards from UPS Freight workers to join the Teamsters. The agreement will be voted on between now and April 6th in union halls nationwide by UPS Freight members.

Hundreds of UPS Freight Workers in Texas Sign Cards to Become Teamsters- (March 4, 2008)

An overwhelming majority of about 720 workers at 10 UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) terminals in Texas have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers seeking to join the union to more than 7,000 since January 16, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced.

The workers at terminals in Irving, Fort Worth, Garland, Tyler, Waco and El Paso are seeking to join Local 745 in Dallas, and workers in San Antonio, Pflugerville, Harlingen and Laredo are seeking to join Local 657 in San Antonio.

UPS Freight Workers in Nevada, Arkansas and Pennsylvania Seek Teamster Membership- (March 3, 2008)

An overwhelming majority of about 170 workers at the UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) terminals in Las Vegas, Nevada; Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; and Little Rock, Arkansas have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers seeking to join the union to nearly 6,300 since January 16, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced today. The workers are seeking to join Local 631 in Las Vegas, Local 773 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Local 878 in Little Rock.

UPS Freight Workers in New York, California Sign Cards to Become Teamsters- (February 21, 2008)

An overwhelming majority of nearly 130 workers at the UPS Freight terminals in Syracuse, Albany and Binghamton, in New York, and a terminal in Stockton, California have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers seeking to join the union to about 5,830 since January 16.

UPS Freight Workers in West Sacramento Sign Cards to Become Teamsters- (February 20, 2008)

An overwhelming majority of 107 workers at two UPS Freight terminals in West Sacramento, California have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers seeking to join the union to about 5,700 since January 16.

Teamsters' UPS Freight Campaign Reaches 4,000-Worker Milestone- (February 6, 2008)

An overwhelming majority of about 175 workers at the UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) terminals in Bensalem, Pennsylvania; Pennsauken, New Jersey; and Elkton, Maryland have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers seeking to join the union to more than 4,000 since January 16, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced.

Workers in Arizona and California Seek Union Membership at UPS Freight- (January 30, 2008)

An overwhelming majority of about 300 workers at the UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) terminals in Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff, in Arizona, and two terminals in Fresno, California have signed authorization cards to become Teamsters, bringing the total number of drivers and dockworkers seeking to join the union to about 3,500 since January 16, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced.

UPS Freight Workers All Over Nation Sign Cards To Become Teamsters- (January 28, 2008)

An overwhelming majority of UPS Freight employees across the country are signing cards to become Teamsters. Farmington and Newburgh, NY; Louisville and Lexington, KY;  Milwaukee and Minneapolis, WI; Detroit, MI; Seattle and Kent, WA; Memphis, TN; Oakland, CA; and four terminals in Southern California have all signed cards and are on their way to becoming proud Teamsters. This is all part of a national campaign being rolled-out across the country...

UPS Freight Workers in Indianapolis Ratify Historic, First Ever Contract- (October 7, 2007)

(Indianapolis) -- Workers at UPS Freight (formerly Overnite Transportation) in Indianapolis overwhelmingly ratified their first contract ever today, by a 107-1 vote. This agreement will improve wages, benefits and working conditions and will serve as a model to organize thousands of other UPS Freight employees nationwide, Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa announced.

-Teamster Negotiators Return to Indianapolis August 27th- (August 31, 2007)

With momentum on their side, Teamster negotiators returned to the table with UPS Freight during the week of August 27 in Indianapolis, and rank-and-file members played a key role in the talks. The co-chairman of the union’s negotiating committee expects a tentative agreement very soon.

-UPS Negotiations Update: Company and Central States Reach Tentative Agreement- (August 2, 2007)

The Teamsters National United Parcel Service Negotiating Committee has been advised that UPS has reached an agreement in principle with the Central States Pension Fund establishing conditions for a potential UPS withdrawal from Central States. The specific terms of the agreement are being finalized by the Company and Fund. As you have been advised, these matters are strictly between the Company and Central States. Neither the Negotiating Committee nor the International Union has any authority or legal right to participate in those negotiations.

- UPS Freight Talks Move On To Economics (July 22, 2007)

After reaching agreement in June on nearly a dozen additional articles relating to non-economic working conditions, UPS Freight talks resume the week of July 23 and economic issues are expected to be introduced at the table.

- Parcel Division Director Discusses UPS, UPS Freight Contract Negotiations and FedEx Update at Unity Conference

Negotiations for both the 2008 national UPS contract and a contract covering workers at UPS Freight in Indianapolis are progressing well, Teamsters Parcel and Small Package Division Director Ken Hall told the 2007 Unity Conference April 29.

- UPS Freight Negotiating Committee Makes Progress

The Teamsters' UPS Freight Negotiating Committee met with UPS on February 20 and 21, and progress was made on a variety of contract provisions dealing with non-economic workplace conditions.

Meeting outside of Washington, D.C., the union and the company were able to move forward this week on contract language relating to a variety of topics. The Teamsters are negotiating a contract for the 125 drivers and dockworkers at UPS Freight in Indianapolis.

This past year, 2006, was an exciting year for UPS Freight workers, as the Teamsters Union took major steps in 2006 to bring to these workers the same strong voice that 1.4 million members enjoy.

- Teamsters Kick Off Contract Talks With UPS Freight

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters kicked off contract talks on September 6 with UPS Freight, laying the groundwork for a campaign to organize more than 15,000 workers at the former Overnite Transportation.

- Union to Begin UPS Freight Negotiations

On September 6, the Teamsters will begin negotiations  with UPS Freight on behalf of 125 workers who are now members of Local 135 in Indianapolis.

- UPS Freight Campaign Off to Victorious Start

The union's organizing campaign at UPS Freight got off to a great beginning after 125 drivers and dock workers at the company's Indianapolis plant joined Local 135.
